लोककथा
एक लोककथा है कि शिवाजी एक स्थान पर एक किले का निर्माण करवा रहे थे जिसमें हजारों मजदुर काम कर रहे थे। एक दिन शिवजी के मन में यह अहंभाव आया की देखो। इतने लोगों के उदर-पोषण की व्यवस्था मैं कर रहा हूँ, इनको मैं ही भोजन दे रहा हूँ। इतने में ही उनके गुरु समर्थ रामदास वहाँ आ पहुँचें। वे बोले शिवा ! तुम अच्छा काम कर रहे हो इतने मजदूरों की रोटी जो दे रहे हो, तू नहीं होता तो ये भूखे मर जाते। फिर वे एक चट्टान की ओर संकेत करके बोले जरा इसको तो तुड़वा। मजदूरों को लगाकर उस विशाल पत्थर को तुड़वाया गया तो उसके अंदर एक छोटा सा कीड़ा बैठा हुआ पाया गया जो पास ही रखे चावल जैसे खाद्य पदार्थ को बड़े मजे से खा रहा था और पास ही एक छोटे से कुण्ड में पानी भरा हुआ था। रामदास स्वामी ने कहा शिवा ! इस जीव को भी तू ही भोजन पानी दे रहा है। वास्तव में इस अखिल ब्रह्माण्ड को संभालने वाला, पालने-पोसने वाला तो परमात्मा ही है। मनुष्य तो केवल निमित्त मात्र है। अतएव अर्जुन ! यह ससमझ ले कि इस संसार में जो कुछ है, वह सब मैं ही हूँ, मेरे आलावा कुछ है ही नहीं। जैसे कपडे में से यदि सूत को निकाल दें तो कुछ भी नहीं बचता ऐसे ही संसार में से यदि भगवान को अलग कर दें तो कुछ भी शेष नहीं बचता।
There is a legend that Shivaji was getting a fort constructed at a place in which thousands of laborers were working. One day Shivji's mind got this arrogance that look. I am making arrangements for the sustenance of so many people, I am giving them food. Just then, his Guru Samarth Ramdas reached there. They said Shiva! You are doing a good job, you are giving bread to so many labourers, if it were not for you, they would have died of hunger. Then he pointed to a rock and said, at least break it. When laborers were forced to break that huge stone, a small worm was found sitting inside it, which was happily eating food items like rice kept nearby and a small pool was filled with water nearby. Ramdas Swami said Shiva! You are also giving food and water to this creature. In fact, the one who takes care of this entire universe, the one who nurtures it is the Supreme Soul. Human beings are just instruments. Therefore Arjun! Understand that everything that is in this world is only me, there is nothing other than me. Just like if the thread is removed from the cloth then nothing is left, similarly if God is separated from the world then nothing is left.
